I just uploaded two bulletins regarding the 
diagnostic codes for the Hitachi VCR's with the 
led sensor problem.. 

The  models they cover are
VT-MX211A,, VT-M221A,, VT-MX411A,,VTMX421A,, 
VT-MX421AC, VT-MX424A, VT-FX600A, VT-FX601A.

It should be helpful in troubleshooting these 
models for other problems too..

Also the service Bulletin from hitachi dealing with the
led light source problem.
